Latest changes to Mailchimp - June 2026 update

Well hello there!

As a Mailchimp Pro Partner, every month I get to go to a “Product Pulse” briefing to get the insider news about latest changes to Mailchimp and things that are on the horizon.

This is hot off the press from today’s briefing…

The latest changes to Mailchimp

  1. The “All campaigns” screen is changing

New Mailchimp accounts have a different screen layout for All campaigns. In early August existing accounts will start to see an invitation to opt in to the new “view”. It’s not dramatically different, but it will feel strange for a while. The main difference is that it will include a small thumbnail image of what your campaign looked like alongside each one, which I really liked.

  2. Survey templates

Mailchimp has included surveys for all users for as long as I can remember, but they’re a bit tucked away so a lot of users have never given them a try. They are in the process of rolling out a change so that surveys are a) accessed via the main Create button on the top left, and b) include 6 templates of the most commonly used types of survey e.g. Post purchase reviews.

The survey builder itself isn’t changing (it could definitely benefit from an upgrade and the addition of a drop-down field option), but this is a good improvement and will make it easier for you to find them so you can start experimenting.

  3. Automation improvements

Quite recently Mailchimp added “joins segment” as a new trigger for automations. They’ve now expanded that function so that advanced segments can be used further down your flows in “if/else” branches, filters and logic. For example:

[A] You have a segment for “Has been sent 10 last campaigns” AND “Has not opened all of the last 10 campaigns”. When someone joins that segment as a result of their behaviour (or lack of!), that can automatically trigger a re-engagement flow.

[B] You have a welcome series. After the first email in the flow, you have an “if/else” filter which can send the contact down two pathways. That “if/else” can be a segment like “if is in segment Highly Engaged, send them down pathway A”, and if not, send them down pathway B.

I’m looking forward to playing with this one!

  4. Send Now / Schedule / When Triggered

You’ll start to see a new option when you’re getting ready to send an email campaign. If you have any sort of paid account you’ll be used to seeing Send Now or Schedule. They are now rolling out a third option here: When triggered - this allows you to create an email in the usual way, but instead of it being “a one hit wonder”, you can convert it into an automation with a trigger you decide, so that it then continues to work for you.

Now, I think this will be handy in terms of getting less technical users familiar with automations, but it definitely won’t replace the full automated flows builder and it seems that you can’t add a campaign mid-flow or to an existing automation, only as the trigger for a new one.

  5. Multivariate testing - new AI analytic assessment

If you have a Standard or Premium account, you have access to Multivariate Testing (MVT), where you can try out two different variables to a test population, then send the winner to the remainder. Mailchimp are rolling out the addition of their Analytics AI to MVTs now, so that, in addition to the quantitative data table you also now get a qualitative written analysis.

I tend to use manual selection when it comes to choosing a “winner” anyway because Mailchimp doesn’t know some of the external actions resulting from your email (like replies or phone enquiries). I’ve also not yet seen it in action to see what their blurb is like, but one to watch…

  6. WhatsApp into Mailchimp

It’s still coming but the roll-out scheduled has changed. I’ll share more info when I have it.
